Kazakhstan Confirms Commitment to Nuclear Disarmament, Non-Proliferation

Kazakhstan, a country that voluntarily renounced the world’s fourth largest nuclear arsenal and shut down the largest nuclear test site at Semipalatinsk has been and will continue to be a strong advocate of and active participant in the global non-proliferation process and the efforts to reduce the nuclear threat, the country’s Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev told the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva on March 5, 2010.

SAUDABAYEV SPEAKS ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN GENEVA

Kazakhstan's Secretary of State - Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev told the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) Navi Pillay that Kazakhstan is committed to promoting further democracy and human rights both domestically and internationally.
The two officials met in Geneva on March 3 as Mr Saudabayev began his visit to UN institutions there.

KAZAKHSTAN GRAIN EXPORTS REACH 4.8 MILLION TONS

To date, Kazakhstan has exported 4.8 million tons of grain from the 2009 harvest. This figure represents an increase of 1 million tons compared to the previous year’s export volume, said Akylbek Kurishbaev, Minister of Agriculture on March 2nd.
According to the Minister, Kazakhstan exported grain to Iran, Afghanistan and other countries in the Middle East: "Our grain is competitive, and we will continue to increase exports" he said.

The beginning of the new year and new decade was marked by the event, which gave start to the formation of a new configuration of economic and political environment as the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as other integration associations. Since January 1, 2010, the Custom Union of three countries - Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia has entered into the phase of real functioning.
